Scabies, just like head lice, is not a disease or an infection, it is an infestation. We talk about scabies infestation just like we talk about lice infestation. What is scabies? They are tiny mites that are located in the outer layers of our skin. The skin reacts to this infestation, and as the mites burrow and lay eggs inside the skin, this leads to very severe itching and rash symptoms.
