Hi Michelle, a lot of people use vinegar for hair care, and it is not at all harmful (it can only be irritating), so you can apply your normal shampoo and conditioner after applying it to the hair. What you should not do is apply conditioner after using a comercial lice shampoo.

I have a couple of questions. After applying the vinegar treatment, can I rinse with any type of shampoo? And how long do I need to wait before using conditioner again?

Hi Tonie, yes, peppermint and eucalyptus can also repel lice because they hide our human smell.

I have a peppermint scented body spray, would this be as effective in preventing the lice? I also have either spearmint or eucalyptus lotion.. can either of these be used until I can get the essential oils?

Thanks!
